African artwork and aesthetics have been used as inspiration for many paintings, films and even literary works throughout modern times. This piece pays homage to that fact by juxtaposing the character cyclops and his single red eye as to say, “I see you.”

African culture, tribes and deities have been used to inspire countless movies, novels and works of art around the planet. This is just one piece from a collection of NFTs that explores visual repatriation of superheroes and their source of inspiration. Anansi is one of the most popular folklore characters from western Africa and the Caribbean, and possesses the ability to outsmart and triumph over much larger and powerful opponents. Sound familiar?

The African Marvels NFT project is meant to be immersive and viewed in augmented reality by the user. Here are just a few examples of them being placed in various locations around the globe. No tricks or Photoshop, these are all taken by users with their smartphones!
HOW COOL IS THIS?!!

This piece is a simple tribute to the women in my family that raised me and shielded me from the harsh realities of life. My grandmother, who taught me the importance of family. My aunt, who took me to the art supply store for my birthdays. My sister, for being my greatest cheerleader and supporter. My cousins, who loved me unconditionally. And lastly, my mother, who fought diligently to never let me fall into the myriad of traps that are constantly being set for young black men in America. Thank you for allowing me to keep my innocence.

This portrait of Bapu was entirely sculpted in 3D and then placed in a custom ornate golden frame. The frame itself can be a work of art on its own. It contains the figure in his action stance as well some of the gears of his charkha.

What happens when Civil Rights meets Street Fighter? Fully created and sculpted digitally. This piece pays homage to the Ryu character from the classic arcade game. King can be seen with the same torn sleeves and bulging muscles. He even mimics the classic fight pose. The golden frame is tongue and cheek to the pretentiousness of the artworld.

We do not need guns and bombs to bring peace, we need love and compassion. -Mother Teresa
Yeah, I know; Not what you were expecting. Standing only 5 feet tall, the only living saint has adopted Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to combat the world’s problems. An advocate and defender of children, she has returned to fix so many things that desperately went wrong.
